Automatic drum lidders
Automatic drum lidders are used for the lidding and unlidding of waste drums when the manual lidding and unlidding of these drums may not be possible due to high dose rates at the drum.
The first task of the drum lidders is to loosen the screw connections with the aid of permanently installed screwdrivers and then to lift the lid. The drum can now be transported for further treatment (e.g. cementing or drying). After completion of the respective work steps, the drum is moved back to the drum lidder and automatically lidded.
Depending on the requirements, lidding and unlidding can be fully automated, semi-automated or manually controlled.
For safe operation of the drum lidder, various sensors detect the exact position of the drum, the screws in the lid and the screw holes in the drum. If necessary, this information can be used to adjust the position of the console with the screwdrivers (e.g. turning the console to position the screwdrivers directly above the screws in the lid).
