Hot cells

Hot cells are heavily shielded rooms for remote handling or conditioning and - if necessary - storage of highly radioactive substances. These substances can come from various areas of nuclear technology, research, industry (e.g. radiation sources from measuring instruments for quality assurance) and medicine (e.g. diagnostics, radiation therapy and nuclear medicine).

Equipment
  • Movable work tables

  • Storage areas (e.g. internal floor storage, barrel storage)

  • Cellular cranes with drive motors outside the cell

  • Airlocks (e.g. drum airlocks, small parts airlocks)

  • Tools and systems for conditioning (e.g. dismantling equipment)

  • Remote-controlled handling technology (e.g. master-slave manipulators)

  • Shielding walls and shielding gates

  • Radiation protection windows

  • Steel lining

  • Electrical, control and measurement technology

  • Lighting, audio and video technology

  • Plant control and monitoring

Scope of services
  • Concept, design and licensing planning

  • Basic and detail engineering including 3D planning

  • Construction and manufacturing planning

  • Material procurement

  • Manufacturing, delivery and assembly

  • Commissioning and staff training

  • Quality assurance and final documentation
